- You expect school to manage your child's behavior — learners govern themselves here
- Grades and credentials are your top measure of success — we don't do traditional grades
- You'll struggle to watch your child fail — failure is essential, parents must allow it
- You want a hands-off relationship with school — Acton requires engaged, growing parents
- Your child's comfort is more important than their growth — the Hero's Journey is often uncomfortable

- You believe your child is capable of more than traditional school reveals
- You're on your own Hero's Journey — reading, building, facing challenges with courage
- You can sit with your child's discomfort without rescuing them
- Character matters more to you than credentials
