We are currently accepting ages 4-7 for our Spark Studio and ages 7-11 for our Discovery studio.
We believe people learn best when working with others younger and older than themselves. In addition to individualized curriculum, all ages of students work together in groups.
We are excited to open a middle school Adventure studio and high school Launch Pad as soon as possible.
Our STEM and Trades program the Future Builders Team is for ages 10 – 15.
Please see our tuition page here for the most updated school year prices.
We are an approved service for classes and learning materials through IHLA which includes Braintree, Home Ed 360, and other programs.
Parents will be responsible for enrolling in Braintree or Home Ed 360 and meeting their requirements. Talk with us about it during your audition if you are interested.
We run 8:30am – 2:30pm Monday – Thursday
Our school calendar is 10 months long running from September – June with 3-6 week project sessions at a time followed by a week or two off and a short summer break. On the last Thursday of each project session we will have an Exhibition at 6:30 pm where families and friends are invited and the learners share what they have done.
See our Schedule page for more details
•Learners set daily, weekly and session SMART goals.
•Utilizing live data from on-line learning programs parents and guides can find out what their hero is learning. By tracking progress we can identify areas of struggle and close any learning gaps.
•We don’t do traditional grades (A, B, C, D, F). Learners earn badges for mastery of core skills, receiving a badge means mastery in that core skill (equivalent of an A). Students also demonstrate the results of their learning journey through showcases, productions, markets and exhibitions about their studies. The web based programs don’t allow the learner to move on to the next skill until it has been mastered.
While we respect and incorporate some of Maria Montessori’s philosophy there are significant differences. In addition to Montessori methods, we use the latest interactive technologies to support independent learning, hands on projects to immerse learners in real-world projects, and the Socratic Method for discussions to articulate critical thinking.
Yes, our studio is accredited by the International Association of Learner Driven Schools (IALDS)
229 S 5th St W #400 Rexburg, ID 83440
This current studio location has several benefits such as allowing for more hands on STEM and Trade activities and a few obvious drawbacks such as no attached outdoor play space. We do get outside to the park across the street often in the warmer weather and we are in search for a new facility that will meet our learners’ needs going forward.
All are welcome to apply. Feel free to reach out to discuss your child’s unique circumstances. We will make every reasonable attempt to accommodate any learner with physical disabilities but we are currently not trained to serve children with serious learning disabilities.
If your child would need additional one-on-one adult support to help them in their learning then Acton may not be right for them. If your child would benefit from more freedom to excel at their own rate without lectures, standardized tests, or rows of desks, such as many who are labeled as dyslexic or ADHD for example, then Acton may be a good fit.
Many neurodivergent labels we consider to be a pseudo-science made up by adults to make profit and many programs push these labels onto capable young heroes in-order to justify additional government funding.
Many of the symptoms of these learning disabilities are actually caused by traditional schooling methods and grade levels being so incompatible with human nature and how young people actually learn.
That being said, young people are all different and learn differently and we have seen that many of these learning disabilities prove to be not a big deal when the learner is given responsibility for their own learning, freedom to pursue their interests, and remove the pressure to be at a specific grade level in all topics.
Acton Academy curriculum is not religious. We believe in religious freedom and discuss the importance of religion in history and in developing society. We will not sensor or prohibit religious discussion or testimony among the learners but will not purpossly prompt or encourrage such discussion.
We believe that each of us has a special calling in life, and a series of trials and tests that must be faced with integrity and purpose, in order to live a satisfying and fulfilled life. Our mission is to prepare your child for his or her special journey.

Launch Padders (Acton’s term for High School) who WANT to go on to higher education are getting into some of the best schools on the planet. In other cases, we see graduates who decide that the Universities need them more than they need a secondary degree. Especially if they already (and some do) field six-figure offers in the industries they know closely align with their known passions (discovered as part of the process in LaunchPad).
Acton graduates from around the world are attractive candidates for top universities because they display responsibility, maturity, and a diversity of experiences that are rare among their peers.
Is college the highest and best path? Only your child will be able to answer that question. In a world where the ROI of higher education costs is hotly debated, a college degree is no longer an insurance policy for a good life, well-lived.
Didn’t find your answer? Reach out and ask us a question. We would love to hear from you!
